Math Help in Columbus-Dublin
Math skills help us make sense of the natural world and bring order to our day-to-day lives. While math is easy to learn for some people, others have trouble making the numbers add up. The good news is that math skills can be trained at any age! At LearningRx, our math help programs offer a way to build and strengthen these skills in kids, teens, and even adults!
With math help from LearningRx, learners can build and strengthen the skills they use for all levels of math. We help students understand the language of mathematics, think in quantitative terms, and build skills for solving math problems.
Our brain training programs have helped thousands of kids, teens, and adults improve math skills, including learners with conditions like dyscalculia. Between 2010 and 2018, more than 3,000 students completed our MathRx® program and improved math skills by 3.2 years on average!
(Results based on studies and surveys of past clients. You or your child may or may not achieve the same results.)
How We Help with Math
Personalized Training to Build Math Skills
There’s a lot more to math than simple numbers. To understand different types of math, students need to grasp a wide range of concepts. Students need a strong sense of how numbers work, plus strong skills in areas like memory, attention, and logic.
With math help from LearningRx, anyone can build and strengthen these skills through brain training. Our personalized MathRx® training plans can even help you target specific math skills.
A Brain Skills Assessment will pinpoint the areas where math training can offer the most help for you or your child. When we design a custom training plan, we’ll place special emphasis on building these skills.
Brain Training for Math Skills
LearningRx offers math help through our MathRx® math training program. This program focuses on building the fundamental skills your brain uses to process numbers and understand mathematical concepts.
MathRx® places an emphasis on cognitive skills used in math, including short-term and long-term memory, logic and reasoning, and sustained attention skills. We also work with students on key mathematical concepts, such as:
- Thinking in numbers and quantities
- Reading and writing math calculations
- Analyzing and solving math problems
We develop these skills through one-on-one games and mental exercises, which are led by a dedicated brain trainer.
We match these exercises to each learner’s training plan, and we design each training session to offer a challenging – but not too challenging – mental workout. This allows students to quickly build the skills targeted in their training plan without getting frustrated.
Brain Training or Math Tutoring?
If you’re looking for math help, a math tutor might seem similar to brain training. In fact, brain training and math tutoring involve different approaches, and each one works best for different types of learners.
A math tutor will take a similar approach to teaching math that kids find at school. This can be helpful for students who’ve missed classes or benefit from repeating material. However, if students are having trouble in math class because they need to strengthen underlying skills, they’ll have just as much trouble with math tutoring.
This is where brain training offers a different approach to math help. Rather than simply repeating classroom content, brain training helps students build the underlying cognitive skills that students use for math. This allows students to understand math more quickly, easily, and naturally all on their own.
