Knocking it Out of the Park, in School and on the Field

It was a relief to know the issues I noticed were real and that we could begin to work toward a solution.

Amelia Drew, otherwise known as “Meils” by friends and family, began first grade like many other students: average performance, some struggles in math and reading. But when Amelia Drew’s mother, Heather, didn’t see improvement by second grade, the former teacher decided to homeschool her daughter. Despite her best efforts, Amelia Drew continued to struggle.

“We would repeatedly practice spelling words or completing problems, but after a few days Amelia Drew couldn’t remember how to do them,” Heather shared. “I just kept hoping eventually everything would click.”

When Amelia Drew returned to public school in fifth grade and continued to struggle, Heather realized it was time to look for additional resources outside of the school to help her.

Online research led Heather to LearningRx, a one-on-one brain training center that offers challenging yet fun mental games to enhance cognitive skills. Unlike tutoring, brain training identifies the root of the problem that is contributing to learning difficulties and addresses the problem at its core.

The results of Amelia Drew’s initial assessment proved she needed to strengthen seven core cognitive skills—confirming what Heather already knew. “After seeing her results, I didn’t feel defeated—I felt validated,” Heather said. “It was a relief to know the issues I noticed were real and that we could begin to work toward a solution.”

“Brain training feels like playing games rather than schoolwork, and it helps me,” Amelia Drew shared. “Two-step math problems used to be really hard, but now I love to do them.”

LearningRx has increased Amelia Drew’s confidence in school and on the field. As a softball and basketball player, Amelia Drew has noticed her faster processing speed when making quick decisions while playing. Even more impressive, Amelia Drew was initially four years behind in her word attack skills – now, she is several years above her age level.

After seeing her daughter’s outstanding improvement, Heather became so fascinated by LearningRx that she decided to become a certified brain trainer to help other students like Amelia Drew.

“Amelia Drew has improved in reading, math, memory and more,” Heather beamed. “We can’t wait to watch her continue to grow thanks to the skills she has strengthened through LearningRx.”
