11-year-old Waconia Student Named Runner-up in National Brain Training Contest Katie Gohlke strengthened her brain skills at LearningRx Eden Prairie For Immediate Release– (Eden Prairie, MN.)—LearningRx (www.LearningRx.com), the largest personal brain training company in the world, has announced 11-year-old Katie Gohlke of Waconia as the runner-up of its national brain training contest. Each year, LearningRx hosts a competition among its graduates across the United States to decide who experienced the greatest cognitive skills gains after completing personal brain training. Katie’s success story, along with those of four other students, earned them a spot in the Top 5 finalists. LearningRx announced the winners at the company’s national convention on July 21. Kate was more than three years behind in reading when she came to LearningRx. She had been in Title I reading through her school with no improvement and her mom wondered if there was any hope of her moving out of that program. She found LearningRx and began a partner program with Kate (and her two siblings!) to address Kate’s reading struggles. By the end of her program, Kate’s reading skills had increased 2.5 years and she is now reading at grade level. Kate’s confidence is now soaring and she feels great about her ability to accomplish whatever she is asked to do, whether in school, hockey, or volleyball. Kate’s mom shared about their struggles to find help for Kate on Facebook and said, “Kate is now reading at grade level and has no problems with math!! Not only have we seen improvements in her academically, but also in day-to-day activities. She listens better, she no longer seems overwhelmed, even down to cleaning her room and her quick-witted responses come at you even faster!
