5 Thanksgiving Crafts for Kids

Few things get you in the mood for Thanksgiving than doing crafts with your kids! Beyond the handprint turkeys, we’ve got a list of some affordable, simple and outright adorable crafts that you can probably do with things you already have it home.

So gather those popsicle sticks and break out the construction paper because there’s fun to be had!

1. Gratitude Wreath

Cut out leaf shapes from fall-colored construction paper and label each with something your family members are grateful for. Use push pins to layer them on a foam wreath.

2. Pumpkin Pie Garland

Cut out orange-colored pie slices and use modeling clay as the crust. Press dental floss into each piece of “crust” before it hardens to create a banner look. Use a fork to press indentations into the crust before it dries.

3. Thanksgiving placemats

Use 11” x 13” paper and let kids trace a plate then draw the fork, spoon and knife. Decorate with messages, drawings or stickers.

4. Caramel Apple Decorations

Trace a large glass on red and green paper and cut out the circles. Trace the glass twice on brown paper to make two circles and cut them out. Draw wavy lines (to look like dripping caramel) through the middle of both brown circles and cut along the wavy lines. Glue a brown “drippy” circle to each of the red and green circles. Dab glue on the caramel part and top with colored sprinkles. Mount each apple on a popsicle stick.

5. Scarecrow Plate

Glue googly eyes and a triangle nose onto the plate. Draw the mouth and then use yellow yarn to create straw hair and loose straw near the neck. Cut out a black hat to mount over the hair.
