Brain Training Website – LearningRx | LearningRx Blog

Anytime a great new idea comes on the scene, it is inevitably followedby a herd of experts all claiming that they have the best resource foryou. But how can you tell which one is telling the truth?

Brain training is no exception to this principle. It’s new, it’sexciting and it is yielding amazing results in people with learning struggles. There are lots of new brain training resources popping up every day, andtheir claims are not always consistent, or easy to understand. When itcomes to your child’s future, you need a clear answer. So what doyou do? Here are five tips that we hope will help you decide which resourcesto pay attention to and which to take with a grain of salt.

Tip #1: Investigate. Search for information. Check out the reputation of the resourcein question. Anyone can make a program sound great with clever marketingcopy. But real results are hard to fake. So, take into account the backgroundand credentials of the company. Call the company and ask to be connectedwith real people who have been helped by their program. Search aroundto find out whether your resource is credible.

Tip #2: Verify. Make sure that the information on any brain training website isbacked up by hard scientific evidence, data and research, and matchesup with the latest discoveries in brain science. Most reputable learningcompanies will have research documents available for you to browse.

Tip #3: Get serious about results. If a brain training website or company tellsyou to spend money and time on "brain games" and expect greatresults, be very careful. Brain games are fun, and may have a little value, but real, lasting results come from hard work and intensive, one-on-onetraining sessions. There are solutions, but no easy fixes. Make sure theresources you are researching are serious about results.

Tip #4: Find real people behind the claims. It's very easy to make big promiseson the web, because there are no publishers or checks & balances.Nothing has to really be true on the internet! Luckily, there are waysto figure out whether a website or other resource is bluffing. The bestway is to find real people to talk to, face-t0-face. If a brain traineris unwilling / unable to interact with you offline, they aren’tthe best choice, because brain training requires trust and coaching andpersonal interaction.

Tip #5: Remember the word VALUE. If you go out and buy a used Plymouth for $400,you might think "Wow, I got a car for $400!" but you may regretyour purchase later when you realize your car doesn't run very well.Remember that any brain training resource that claims to improve cognitionfor really, really cheap is almost certainly lying to you. You will alwaysspend more for phenomenal results.
