5 Ways to Practice Gratitude This Thanksgiving

One of the best ways to fight stress, stay positive, and ground yourself in the moment is to practice gratitude. By appreciating the good in lives rather than constantly focuses on the bad, we start to shift our focus more easily and regularly toward positivity. Here are 5 ways you can practice gratitude this Thanksgiving and every day!

1. Keep a gratitude journal.

Write down some of the things, people, experiences and pets in your life that make you happy.

2. Spend time in nature.

Use all of your senses to immerse yourself in the outdoors, even if it’s just a short walk every day.

3. Write a thank-you note.

Who helped guide you? Or brought you food when you had an empty fridge? Or walked your dog when you were sick? Let them know you appreciate them.

4. Be grateful for your meal.

Beyond Thanksgiving, take a moment to reflect on the people who made your meal possible—from the farmer and truck driver to the grocery store clerk and anyone who prepared it (including yourself).

5. Set a reminder.

Use the alarm on your phone to set reminders to be present and grateful every hour or every other hour.
