Clinician-Delivered Brain Training Reduces Academic Difficulties for Children

New Research Shows LearningRx Cognitive Training Transfers to Real Life Benefits

The results of a study published in Frontiers in Education highlight the benefits of LearningRx one-on-one cognitive training and reading programs in reducing academic difficulty for children. In a controlled study with 178 students, the researcher found statistically significant differences between the treatment groups and the control group on ratings of paying attention, speed of work, reading skills, remembering facts, visualization skills, and problem-solving. Significant improvements in long-term memory, processing speed, auditory processing, fluid reasoning, working memory, and visual processing were also noted in the treatment groups.

The study was conducted by Edward Jedlicka, PhD, at Lakeland University. “This is the first study on LearningRx cognitive training to quantify the transfer of training to real life benefits,” explains Dr. Jedlicka. “We’ve long known that LearningRx one-on-one cognitive training programs improve cognitive skills. Now we have evidence that this training also reduces academic difficulty for struggling students.”
