True Story of Success: Anna, 8th Grade“Here it is, 5 months later and the results have been nothing short of fantastic. Anna’s entire outlook and attitude have improved 100%.” By the 7th grade, Anna was struggling badly with her school work and her personal life. We had her tested extensively for ADD. The test results came back positive. As parents, we did what we thought was best. We started her on medication, hoping it would start a turnaround. Her mother and I are both pharmacists, and we had some reservations about the prescription drug route. We knew there were side effects and other potential adverse effects in using ADD-type medication. Not long after initiating drug therapy, Anna had sleep disturbances, wasn’t eating well, and was very irritable. She was combative, angry, and had no improvement in school. We knew we were at a crossroads; we all needed help. We had received a postcard from LearningRx 6 months earlier when the local center opened. We discussed options with her pediatrician and searched the Internet regarding LearningRx. After an an initial meeting and consultation, we went ahead and enrolled Anna. Here it is, 5 months later and the results have been nothing short of fantastic. Anna’s entire outlook and attitude have improved 100 percent. She’s brighter, happier, and more cheerful. She’s doing much better in school, she reads for pleasure, and her self-confidence and self-esteem are much higher. Most importantly, Anna has been off of the medication since the start of the program with no adverse effects. She has been invited to help with this year’s summer camp as a student mentor! — Father of Anna
