LearningRx Testimonial: Brain Training Improved Child’s Focus, Attention Span, and More
We see a range of clients in our center, but a majority of kids have some level of attention struggles. Whether it’s tuning out distractions, persevering when things are hard, or holding onto multiple things happening at a time, weak attention skills make learning harder.
Check out this short LearningRx testimonial with Evan’s family sharing how he improved after brain training:
Weak Attention Skills Make Life Harder
Attention is one of the most critical skills for productivity and effective learning. Whether you’re homeschooling, in public school, or an adult in the workplace, if you can’t take in the world around you (and ignore distractions), you’re going to constantly feel frustrated, overwhelmed, and behind.
For many kids in school especially, weak attention can manifest as learning struggles that are concerning to parents and teachers alike. Up to 10% of kids are being diagnosed with ADHD every year, and this number continues to go up.
There are 3 main kinds of attention. Weaknesses in even one of these areas is a hurdle that you have to overcome:
- Sustained attention (the ability to focus for long periods of time)
- Divided attention (the ability to take in multiple things at once)
- Selective attention (the ability to tune out distractions)
For Evan (and for many kids), distractions made school frustrating and hard. But after brain training, he felt more confident and capable even in these hard or loud situations!
Distractions are Part of Life
If you walk into a LearningRx center, you’re likely to hear lots of ticking metronomes, voices, and distractions. We believe that learning to work with distractions makes people more successful in life because let’s be honest: they are everywhere.
Our trainers strategically insert targeted distractions into our program to help kids and adults get used to focusing and tuning them out. And for many of our clients, this skill translates into “real life” too.
