“I have extensive history working with children and adults with disabilities within the Peoria Community. What I enjoy the most about my position is being able to work closely with parents and students to develop a customized learning plan to best assist the student in strengthening their cognitive skills. Regardless of the label of ADHD, Dyslexia, Processing Disorders or Autism, I am confident that our brain training program can help them be more successful in their learning environment. As it is becoming more common for students to be homeschooled, I also find joy in helping those students overcome their challenges in independent studying.
My favorite brain training activity is Comprehension Blocks. The reason for this is because I love finding patterns in everything. This activity keeps the child engaged by working with their hands while developing their comprehension, logic and reasoning skills.”

“As a professional educator and local musician, I have worked with many students in group sessions. What I love about being a Brain Trainer is that I get to work with a student in a one-on-one environment to help find their best self. With every student, I have seen confidence grow, a strengthening of cognitive skills and most importantly to me, I have watched the student rebuild a positive relationship with a learning environment. So many of our students begin our program because of learning struggles they are facing and watching their faces light up again with the joy of learning is extremely powerful and encouraging.
My favorite brain training activity is the Brain Cards. It allows me to be a bit competitive with the students while having fun. Additionally, I get to see how the students grow during each session of the Brain Cards and together we can make it more challenging. The Brain Cards focus a lot on memory and logic and reasoning. It brings in so many attention skills and helps every student.”

“Having an extensive background in working with young children and the elderly in both the education and medical world opened up my eyes to how many people are out there that could benefit from Brain Training. Additionally, Autism and ADHD hit close to home for me. What drove me to become a Brain Trainer was how we work on strengthening cognitive skills (the root causes of the learning struggles) that the individual can use throughout their entire life and not just an academic subject. It warms my heart when I witness the improvement in memory when working with senior citizens and the glow in a student’s eyes when a challenge that we have been working on is finally achieved.
My favorite brain training activity is the Arrows. The Arrows has an endless amount of challenges and depending on the student you can do a great deal of activities from easy to hard, simple to complex. Just simply changing a color, keeping to a beat or having the student reverse the arrows builds the student’s attention, memory and processing skills.”
