Ben Utecht’s Road to Overcoming Brain Injuries

Former Minnesota Gopher and Super Bowl Champion, Ben Utecht’s road to overcoming brain injuries, went through LearningRx. Ben was forced to retire due to the multiple concussions he experienced in his time playing football.  Ben had completed TBI care at Mayo Clinic and had on-going check-ins with his neurologist and experienced some improvement.  However, he was still struggling.  Ben’s skills were not back to where they were prior to his multiple concussions.

Ben started cognitive skills training at LearningRx in Savage six years after his last concussion and his results were life changing.  Before training, Ben struggled with memory and attention issues.  Due to his LearningRx training, his long-term memory jumped from the 12th to the 98th percentile.  Ben’s memory was tested by his neurologist years later and he was shocked at the huge change in Ben’s memory.  Learn more about Ben Utecht’s road to overcoming brain injuries.

We also worked with Wayne.  Wayne was 72 years old and he had suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) as a toddler – some 70 years prior to his LearningRx training. Sadly, Wayne had struggled all that time due to the negative impacts his TBI had on his cognitive skills of memory, processing speed and auditory processing.  Wayne worked with us 70 years after his TBI occurred and is now experiencing a much stronger quality of life.  Watch Wayne’s amazing story.

For those who suffer a TBI, the year after the event is usually spent healing and stabilizing.  There is also cognitive strengthening in that time.  However, after this, many TBI survivors are left with diminished skills in areas like attention, working and long-term memory, processing speed, reasoning, visual processing and executive function that are not what they used to be.  These weaknesses often make it difficult for them to hold the job they had before the injury or experience the same quality of life.

That is where LearningRx can help!  Our 1-on-1 cognitive skills training targets and strengthens the skills impacted by the TBI.  We have multiple peer-reviewed studies demonstrating the gains our clients achieve as well as a study published in the Journal of Neuroimaging showing the actual positive changes in brain function and connectivity our clients experience as a result of LearningRx training.

There are many TBI survivors still struggling after the medical attention they have received – many years after the event.  LearningRx can help you or your loved one.  Call LearningRx in Savage today to learn how we can help with traumatic brain injuries or MCI and get on the road to stronger functioning, improved abilities and an enhanced quality of life.
