Summer reading programs are a great way to build in an extra incentive to get your kids reading all summer long! With fun prizes and events happening all summer, here are some opportunities at our local libraries you can start signing up for now.

Augusta County Library Summer Reading Program
Augusta County Library’s theme this year is “Read Beyond the Beaten Path” to encourage a lifelong love of reading! Participants of all ages can win prizes for reaching their reading goals, attending programs, and completing other activities.

Staunton City Library Summer Reading Games
Staunton City Library is hosting an “Oceans of Possibilities” summer reading challenge to get participants reading and participating in events all summer! Win prizes, earn tickets to fun events, and more!

Waynesboro Library Summer Reading Program
This summer, the Waynesboro library is excited to partner with Beanstack for an online Summer Reading Challenge. Choose from a list of reading challenges, read any style or format you like, and log your completed challenges online. Staff are always happy to make reading suggestions!
Dates: June 1st-July 31st
Prizes:
- Adults (18+), every three completed challenges earns one entry into a drawing to win a Kindle Fire.
- Teens (12-17), every three completed challenges earns one entry into a drawing to win a $25 Visa gift card.
- Kids (0-11), everybody wins with an end-of-summer party featuring bounce houses and a visit from the Waynesboro Fire Department.
Harrisonburg Summer Reading Program
The Massanutten Regional Library is also hosting an Oceans of Possibilities Summer Reading Challenge!
Dates: June 6th-July 31st
Prizes:
AGES 0 -11
- 1 point = 1 minute of reading or listening to books.
- Earn prizes, coupons for FREE food, and other goodies for every 120 minutes of reading/120 points.
- Earn 600 points and you’ll receive more coupons for FREE goodies, a FREE book, and a completion certificate you can print and share.
- Every 60 points after, earns an entry into the grand prize drawing.
AGES 12-17
- 120 points = 1 book.
- Earn prizes, coupons for FREE food, and other goodies for every book read/120 points.
- Earn 600 points and you’ll receive more coupons for FREE goodies and a FREE book.
- Every book read after, earns an entry into the grand prize drawing.
AGES 18+
- Every book logged during the week enters you into the weekly prize drawing.
- Every book logged during the summer enters you into the grand prize drawing at the end of the program.
