Improve Your Cognitive Ability with Our Development Programs

There’s no expiry date for building learning and thinking skills. For adults who wish they were better at recalling specific facts or details, who want to improve accuracy, or who simply crave a challenge, you still have time to improve your cognitive ability!

At LearningRx, we know that developing skills can happen at any age. Kids, teens, and adults are all capable of improving their mental abilities. With decades of research into cognitive development, we work with all ages and abilities to target core brain skills like focus, memory, logic and reasoning, and more. We know firsthand that when students of all ages enhance these skills, they can unlock new abilities and discover their unique potential.

It’s easy for adults to believe that their skills are set in stone. But that’s simply not true. Here, we’ll explore the realities of improving cognitive ability at any age!

Neuroplasticity and Improving Your Cognitive Ability

Understanding Neuroplasticity and Why It Matters

Our minds are truly capable of limitless potential. That’s not just true for kids and teens—it’s often true for adults as well. In order to understand that, it’s important to know the term “neuroplasticity.”

Whether you realize it or not, your brain is constantly buzzing with information and input. It’s an organ that’s constantly working—and to do so, it’s capable of making new connections and forming new neural pathways. This incredible ability of the brain is described as neuroplasticity.

For adults, it means it’s not too late to improve cognitive abilities. Leveraging that neuroplasticity is crucial to cognitive development. Let’s take a look at what that means.

3 Principles of Cognitive Development

How do you improve cognitive abilities? There’s plenty of cognitive development research that helps us understand what’s needed, including a 2008 paper on neuroplasticity. This paper identified several key principles, including:

  • Intensity. When you’re faced with a challenge, it’s easier to focus on completing a task and progressing. That’s also an underlying concept in brain training—we make sure each session is dynamic and taxing without being overwhelming.
  • Repetition. Practice makes perfect, and that’s true when you’re trying to enhance cognitive abilities, too! Repetition is a core principle for cognitive development. This kind of regular practice is also essential to one-on-one brain training.
  • Progression. When learning new skills or abilities, it’s important to gradually increase the complexity or difficulty. That’s also true for programs with LearningRx, which involve incremental progression to keep students engaged.

When you improve the way you think, learn, and remember, these improved skills can be incredibly versatile. They’re not just useful for work—they can also be hugely beneficial in all areas of life. For example, being organized doesn’t just mean keeping up-to-date with all your emails. You can also use organizational skills when planning events with friends or family, when tackling household projects, and for any number of other uses.

How Brain Training Targets Cognitive Ability

So how does one-on-one brain training focus on improving cognitive abilities?

It helps to think about it like personal training. In the same way you work with a one-on-one personal trainer to exert specific muscle groups, you’ll work with a dedicated brain trainer to exercise cognitive skills. When you see improvements in your muscles, physical abilities can become that much easier. Similarly, when you see gains in cognitive skills, you can become a more confident learner, faster thinker, and more accurate reader!

Adults who have successfully completed LearningRx programs have reported fantastic outcomes. Previous LearningRx graduates have highlighted increased IQ scoring as well as improvements in attention, long-term memory, and other key cognitive abilities!
